Michael,
The TT-30/AGA-1 (aka Teletype Corp. Model 31) just prints on a tape,
which makes it much smaller than a page printer. Although originally
designed for the military (AN/AGA-1 was for an airborne RTTY system), I
don't think they sold many to the military.
Teletype Corp later came out with a version with a synchronous motor and
a carrying case and sold them to Western Union, who leased them out to
sports newsmen. They took them to games and typed out the game, play by
play.
Teletype corp only built about 500 of the M31 units and that probably
includes ones used in SIGNIN/AFSAM-4s.
have fun,
Duncan
