The manual was probably written well over 50 years ago, when people were
expected to take responsibility for the consequences of their improper
use of equipment. I wonder if the US military would ever allow that sort
of situation to occur today. Is the shorting contact in the LPG
carefully adjusted so it will reliably make up and keep the loop closed
as the plug is being inserted or withdrawn? Is it recommended practise
to grasp the plug firmly and insert  or withdraw it  briskly to minimize
or eliminate interrupting the loop? I  am in the process of designing
and building a multiple loop supply and patch bay, so these comments are
of interest.
