Well duh! I only had to take out 6 screws to get access to those broken draw bar springs.4 of the 6 were to get the rubber back board out of the way. (the rubber the type bars rest against)Only 2 screws hold the type bars to it's carriage.Not nearly as difficult as I imagined.
The shaft and gears that reverse the ribbon direction were rusted pretty bad and I got thatworking freely too.
I'm starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel if I don't run into more issueswhen cleaning the lower half.I expect to run into more issues but so far so good.
Maybe I can demo this thing at our next ham radio get together!Best part is....When I'm done the wife can have her kitchen table back!No more sleeping on the couch!
