It's interesting that the description says it works like a dot matrix
printer. I guess it could be like the first ink jet printer I ever saw, an
Oliveti. It had a single ink jet that quickly ran back and forth across
the page. Here, perhaps, the pen runs back and forth across the tape and
drops to make a mark where needed. That reminds me of the Hell
Feldfernschreiber printer (
https://www.nonstopsystems.com/radio/hellschreiber.htm ), especially if
the dot matrix is transmitted instead of the binary code.
Anyway, it's interesting that this appears to do dot matrix instead of pen
strokes. I have a Houston Instruments DMP-29 plotter (
https://www.thatthingyoulove.com/products/vintagehouston-instruments-dmp-29-computer-plotter
) that I used to use to plot schematics and PCBs (with a Cromemco CP/M
computer). It has commands that accept ASCII and print text using pen
strokes. It would be fun to do a Baudot to ASCII translator and run ITTY
on it.
