What about a crimp-on wire lug with a hole
large enough to fit over the post ?

ps:  be careful of the SPRING WOUND DRUM 
on which the draw strap wraps.  If you just 
disconnect the strap from the post, the drum 
will go BOING and possibly damage the internal 
spring.  Also good idea to unwind the drum slowly 
and COUNT the number of revolutions for the 
proper spring tension when you put on a replacement 
draw strap of whatever type you decide to use.
