I made it a point to get a PC with a "real" serial support that will
support 45 baud. I suspect that we'll never see those again.
Silicon Devices has a CP2102 development kit with a USB/Serial converter
where one can set arbitrary baud rates including 45. I have a couple of
those in case I need to get a new PC. They actually work very well.
Most of the USB/Serial converters either don't support slow speeds or
are "locked" so you can't change them.
Unfortunately, I understand that they have a new version of the chip
(CP2102N) which will not allow anyone to set the baud rate so be careful.
