Make sure all your Windows sounds are turned off.

Make sure a built in microphone is not active.

You can observe the three tuning indicators in the upper right corner of MMTTY when it is printing garbage. If they are active, extraneous sound is getting into MMTTY. Observing them may help you pin it down.

Make sure the MMTTY Sound Card tab is set to the sound card you want to use. Then go the Windows Recording controls and select your line input (or Mic
input) as the recording source which willl then feed into MMTTY. Unselect all other recording inputs.

Of course any cables to jacks on the computer MUST be shielded.

With my computer, to get ITTY into MMTTY, I must run a cable from my earphone jack around to my line-in jack. I also use a splitter to a Terminal Unit to print on my 28's.
