Perhaps a paper-low indicator running against the roll?

I have a WU ASR M32 queued to work on & connect to i-Telex.
Perhaps it could fit it there somehow, but seems to me that a
case-mod would be required.  Perhaps it fits a M28?

I have come across an interest set 
of mechanical parts, in a box labelled 
   11489-A

In the past, I surmised that it might be 
some sort of Western Union mod. kit, as 
it is put together in the sort of way they 
did things.  (!)   But I really don't know. 

It has a 4-pin contact block just like the 
type used on M-14/m-14 motors; 

It has a bracket with two microswitches, 
that operate together;

the microswitches are operated by an arm, 
at the end of which is a quite wide, nicely 
rounded metal piece that is obviously intended 
to ride on something (like tape or paper roll?) --
but the width of it has me baffled. 

anyway, the whole thing is in like-new 
condtion, but the only thing I would think to 
do with it is to salvage the two nice microswitches !!

If you know what it is and/or think you could 
use it, it's yours for the postage.
