Haven’t even looked in the lower cabinet yet, thanks for the heads up Nick. I will look before I power up probably tomorrow. I’ll have the camcorder running when I do so you’ll eventually get a first person account of how that goes.

In ones I have seen, there is an additional LESU in the lower cabinet behind the knee panel. It supplies loop and AC power to the aux reperf. The aux reperf is not connected to the C terminal strips.
Great acquisition!!

In reference to Pic8,
Yes I was a little surprised as well as there was only the hole for the tape chute in the cabinet lid. The switch to turn the reperf on/off is to the left, but the flash of the cell phone camera only lit up the reperf itself. Also missing but not easily seen is the missing cable and connector that route the loop and other needed signals to the Aux reperf assembly. I think I may have those items in one of my 3 spare ASR cabinets. If not, easy to work around. And also not visible is the AC power cord to the Aux reperf assembly is not even connected to terminal block C at any point, so I guess that may be the reason for the pristine condition of the reperf. Maybe it has never been used!

Interesting. Great save!
I wonder how the under dome reperf is turned off/on. I’ve usually seen a switch on the panel there also with a tape eject button.

Well I guess the term ‘pristine’ is defined in the eyes of the owner, but the machine was recovered yesterday!
This machine was rescued from a home that had experienced a fire, but the fire never actually reached the room where the teletype was located. The owner, a ham, always kept a blanket over the M28 when it wasn’t in use, but the fire crews did pull down the ceiling in that room, double checking there was no fire in that portion of the attic.
This M28 is in very good condition however. The cabinet shows no signs of rust that I have discover on cursory inspection, and the paint is in excellent condition as well. No visible scratches either. Internally the sound deadening materials look as if they are brand new, in other words in perfect condition. I’ve attached a couple of pics (a few more to follow, and possibly a link to a YouTube video if I decide to power it up as see how things respond).
As seen in the close-up of the keyboard, there is some debris that I think may have come from the ceiling as the blanket was knocked askew by the fire crews. And in some of the following pics there is evidence of gypsum board dust under the hood so to speak.
Oh, and by the way, there seems to NO evidence of a smoke smell either, as it sits in the dining room with the boss’s approval!
