A ham friend of mine (now SK) was an ET on an attack submarine in the mid
1960s. He said that their comms printer on the boat was an IBM Selectric
and was always breaking down and difficult to repair. He never understood
why the USN didn't use teletype products on subs like they did on surface
ships.
