I recently acquired a 28KSR that was apparently used as an early TDD
device. It came with a Phonetype TU-4 acoustic modem. I'm still trying to
figure out the wiring, but was able to verify operation by temporarily
connecting directly to the selector magnets.
So far so good, but it is equipped with pin feed paper roller. My other
machines have standard friction feed rollers.
Paper of this unique size seems to be hard to find, and pricey when you
find it. It's 8 1/2" wide including the drive holes, more common is 9 1/2"
with tear off edges which of course won't work. I was able to find a
source online in Atlanta for a box of 2700 sheets for $68.95 including
shipping.
So, I have a two-part question, 1) is there a way to convert this to
friction feed paper without sacrificing parts from another machine, or 2)
does anyone know of a source of pin feed paper at a better price and/or
lower quantity? (2700 sheets will very likely last longer than me!)
Thank you in advance for any ideas and or suggestions.
Dennis, KB6C
