Everyone’s probably right on the money… I don’t have a clue. A nearby ham used to work for SAC back in the day… did all kinds of untold, high level stuff with electronics - including Teletypes. He told me of a Teletype specially made for the old Doomsday plane (previous to the current one -- I believe the current is newer?) that was about the same dimensions of a pizza box (actually not as long and wide, but as thin). I can’t remember if he has it or not… I think he might have grabbed it up when they were doing away with the gear, as it was being destroyed... I’ll have to ask again the next time I’m out that way and if he does, see if I can have a glance.

URG means Universal Radio Group, where components are selected and built into whatever system is needed. The modules are mostly solid state and were developed in the mid 1960s. Getting and keeping them working can be a project, I did it for a living 1969-73 in southeast Asia. I have a TSC-136 radio hut that fits in the the back of a pickup truck and uses the URG components. The TTY gear in it is all Klienschmidt. An earlier version, the TSC-15 uses the Collins ARC-58 and one of the Mite ASRs, along with an optional Mite KSR. Does anyone have a Mite ASR they would part with?
