[GreenKeys] Bell System Practices P31.402

I finally figured out where I stowed my device. The identification plate states that it’s a TS-659/UG TELETYPEWRITER TEST SET (SUPPLY: 115 VOLTS 1 PHASE 25-65 CYCLE) “Manufactured for NAVY DEPARTMENT – BUREAU OF SHIPS”.

There is also a secondary plate attached stating “SHIP YARD NUMBER: 129USN 006965”. Can anyone decipher that for me?

Inside the lid there are markings that it’s been Fungus Treated. The wiring diagram is identified as: WD-2403 A (10-4-45). There is no NOTE 6 as seen in 2403wd-c.pdf; it’s not immediately clear what are the differences between Rev. A and C.

According to http://www.navy-radio.com/rtty-misc.htm the TS-659/UG includes 75 & 100 wpm gears in addition to the 60 wpm gear.

My device does indeed include all three sets of gears :->. Courtesy of the anti-fungal coating (looks like a nice layer of varnish, everywhere). it’s evident that the original gear set for 368 O.P.M. (60 wpm) has never been changed.

I see that this is listed at http://www.navy-radio.com/tty/tty-wd-list.htm (an amazing resource!) as “to be scanned”.

Does anyone else have it available?

I did find 108-804-100-5806.pdf at that site; light but readable. Is that the same thing as BSP P31.402?

Thanks.
