The width of the tape should be 11/16 inch wide. In the process of punching
the holes for the characters, it also punches a 'feed hole' for the sprocket
device which feeds the tape into the machine.
As for the diameter of a roll, the one I have is just a few millimeters shy
of 8 inches.
