The film was shot at silent speed, i.e. 16 frames per second.
Sound speed is 24 FPS and the film appears to have been run at
that speed. This is unusual for Movietone stuff since it was all
sound film. The notes on the site say this is full frame, silent
speed. Full frame is also somewhat unusual because Fox cropped
the frame to make room for the sound track. The old Movietone
stuff has a practically square frame. Eventually, a further
cropping, at top and bottom were adopted to restore the 1:33:1
aspect ratio. Movies shot with the old full frame have run from
sprocke hole line to sprocket hole line with very narrow borders
between frames.
There is no sound, this is MOS (old motion picture slang for
no sound, no one knows what it originally stood for).
