Hello Michael and welcome to Greenkeys & RTTY.You have come to the right place for knowledge and experience of all things Teletype.I recently got into RTTY with a Model 28KSR. Lots of fun but admittedly a steep learning curve for me at the beginning, but the guys here have helped me out tremendously. With your rig running continuously (referred to as 'running open'), to me, that sounds like you dont have a loop supply current connected yet.  You'll need a terminal unit (TU) to interface between the TTY and radio. I use a HAL ST-6000, which also provides the loop current.Good luck...MikeKD7VRG

My experience with the devices is pretty much limited to the operation of a computer terminal in Unix or Linux. I own a slew of Terminals which are easy enough to operate, but I found myself so intrigued with the TTY/RTTY, I jumped head first into a pair of Model 28 and Model 15 units without too much research. So, I’m looking for places to get started with device operation, and addition, where I might find additional stuff, like an automatic tape reader, etc. I plan to set up a wired relay first, and ham will follow as I don’t currently have a license.I’m also having issues with my teletype when I turn it on. The gears seem to turn infinitely and I cannot strike a key or get an input, any help with that matter would be great. I think this is the only true source of information on the web anymore. Thanks, everyone!Michael ______________________________________________________________GreenKeys mailing listHome: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/greenkeysHelp: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htmPost: mailto:GreenKeys at mailman.qth.net>>> Jordan Spencer Cunningham's GreenKeys Search Tool: https://teletype.net/gksearch>>> 2002-to-present greenkeys archive: http://mailman.qth.net/pipermail/greenkeys/>>> 1998-to-2001 greenkeys archive: http://mailman.qth.net/archive/greenkeys/greenkeys.html>>> Randy Guttery's 2001-to-2009 GreenKeys Search Tool: http://comcents.com/tty/greenkeyssearch.htmlThis list hosted by: http://www.qsl.netPlease help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.htmlMessage delivered to mmcauley at cox.net
