The storm is moving very fast, currently past Des Moines and on its way to Iowa City.  The TV news is showing maps of power failures in the wake of the storm, with counties color coded by the number of houses without power.  Sustained winds of 40 mph, gusts to 70, which makes it rather tame but still, nothing to sneeze at.  (August a year ago, we had sustained 70-80 mph winds, with gusts later estimated at 140.)
