It doesn't appear to be bouncing back, but I will have to take another look to verify. I will also take a look at the dashpot. Thanks Nick...MikeKD7VRG

Shouldn't the same thing happen if you are at character 72 and manually hit CR?Just thinking out loud here - if the dashpot wasn't cushioning the return properly, then you could get a bounce at the return to the left margin. The amount of bounce would vary with the distance of return and also the return spring tension. See adjustment 2.41 for setting the dashpot.Cheers,Nick England K4NYWwww.navy-radio.comOn Tue, Dec 14, 2021 at 2:28 PM Mike <mmcauley at cox.net> wrote:Update:I relieved the tension on the CR return spring somewhat (about 1-1/2 turns) and the carriage comes back another 4 spaces now when Auto CRLF activates. So it's within 5 now of the left margin.MikeKD7VRG-------- Original message --------From: Jerry Murphy <gfmurphy at earthlink.net> Date: 12/12/21 2:40 PM (GMT-07:00) To: Mike <mmcauley at cox.net> Subject: Re: [GreenKeys] 28KSR with Auto CRLF issue Hi Mike: Go to the M28 typing unit adjustments book and check out adjustments 2.39 and 2.40. https://navy-radio.com/manuals/tty/573-115-700-iss7-6607.pdf When ACRLF is triggered, the carriage return lever (and an associated mechanism) lift the spacingfeed pawls away from the right hand side spacing drum. The spacing feed pawls should stay off ofthe spacing drum until the printing carriage returns all the way to the left. Check adjustments 2.39and 2.40. On another matter, the spring tension in the left hand spacing drum is optimized for 100 WPM operation. The idea is that if it works OK for 100 WPM, it will also work just fine for 60 WPM. The heavy springtension can cause a bounce at the left hand printing margin and sometimes cause a jumble of lettersat the left margin. If you only run your machine at 60 WPM, you might want to consider easing up onthe spring tension in the left spacing drum. (The left margin letter jumble typically only affects two orthree spaces. The fact that your problem in ACRLF happens at the ninth space indicates anotherissue.) See adjustment 2.38 for the left spacing drum spring tension. Good luck with your project. It gets stopped about an inch short (9 character spaces to be precise)Does anyone have any insight as to what may be the problem, and what I can do to correct it?Thanks!MikeKD7VRG ______________________________________________________________
