Paul,
Thanks for the info. That helps a lot.As for iTTY I know how to receive it. I have used fldigi to copy it.My question about iTTY which no one has answered yet is how do I set up a my own server to stream it?I know you can send an email to the existing iTTY server to get something in the queue but that is not what I am asking.I am asking how do I set up my own stream?Say for example is I wanted to subscribe to an existing RSS feed to get content, then convert that content from ASCI to BAUDOT characters, then FSK or AFSK modulate that and stream it live. What software exists to accomplish those steps without reinventing the wheel?
Thanks,-Steve

Are you sure you mean ITTY and not iTelex? Your questions seem oriented towards iTelex.
For iTelex:
I could not find one on ebay. Probably not.
Who sells the hardware? Henning Treumann
Is there a fee for the service? No
Someone mentioned "they assign you a number".
Who are "they"? Again, Henning Treumann, but the “they” is a bunch of really smart guys in Germany.
Steve Garrison explained iTelex in his previous email. It is a lot of fun to chat with others. You call a machine and either leave a message or start a conversation.
For ITTY:
I could not find one on ebay.
Who sells the hardware? It uses standard RTTY hardware which IS available on eBay. You need a teletype, a terminal unit (TU), and a something (old computer, old phone, Raspberry PI, etc) to receive the audio signal and send it to the TU.
Is there a fee for the service? No
Someone mentioned "they assign you a number".
Who are "they"? The concept of numbers does not exist because you don’t call someone.
ITTY is a service that broadcasts content using standard RTTY frequencies over the internet. It is partially explained at RTTY.com. It does not have two way communication. It does have an autostart channel with is nice to use and a 24/7 broadcast service. In fact, all these email messages are mirrored on the autostart channel and are printed out on the teletypes of those of us who are listening to it.
I hope this helps.
