[GreenKeys] Model TT-45/FG Not Punching Through

You probably have a “chadless” punch, meaning it just creates “toilet seats” and not a mess of holes that collect and need to be cleaned.  Run some tape and then put through a TD. If it works, then you’re all set.

Good evening, everyone!

I can finally post to this list saying I have a real teletype! Thanks to Steve, N4TTY, the back wall of my room is now filled with a Model 15, a TT-45/FG reperf, and a Model 14 TD that needs some work, but that will come later. After a day of rewiring, I have the loop set up with a power supply, a demod board, the Model 15, and the reperf. Everything is technically working, and the loop is closed, but there is one small issue. The teletype is fine, no problem there, but the reperf has sort of a big problem.

It does punch and feed tape, but it does not punch all the way through the tape. It just seems to create bumps in the tape when trying to punch, or only partially detach the bit from the paper. Now, I suppose this could be normal behavior, but I can't find a manual for this machine, and all photos and videos I have seen of other reperfs have shown the tape being completely punched through.

Does anyone have any suggestions for adjustments I should make? That seems to be the only flaw with the machine, and as far as I can tell (at least with FIGS and LTRS) the bit patterns are correct, so it's just the force of the punch that needs adjusting. And while it could be loaded wrong (I suppose) I did not load it myself, and I think we all trust Steve at this point to know what he's doing. :)
