These are my go-to fuses… I’m sure they’re available on DigiKey as well:

As I’ve learned from a thread here a few years back, one should have a DC fuse for DC circuits, since the typical AC cartridge fuse can arc after blowing, due to it being DC. These DC fuses have sand in them, so when they blow, the sand melts around the conductor and isolates the juice flowing through the fuse, keeping it from arcing. It’s easy to tell the difference between them — the AC cartridges are glass while the DC ones are not transparent. They work just as well on AC circuits, from what I know, but are (only) a few dimes more ;p .

I carefully (very short application of heat) solder wires on each end of the fuse and then enclosed it in heat shrink, then connect it into the circuit (and the closer to the magnets the better from a "protect the magnets" perspective). I expect at some point we will reach a point where replacement selector magnet coils will become very hard to find. On the other hand, fuses should be easy to obtain in the years ahead.
