Howard Krum considered it a great accomplishment when they replaced the
receiving distributor and multi-magnet printer with the single-magnet
selector of the Model 14/15 line. I guess it was in view of the fact
that in the 1920s wire insulation wasn't all that good, especially in
the presence of oil, and contact materials were not all that good so
all the electrical stuff in Model 12 caused reliability to suffer.
Sadly that mode of thinking lasted into the 1960s at Teletype.
