[GreenKeys] Racks

When I  moved into my first apartment, racks were the way to have a lot
of gear in a small floor space. Even though I found a couple nice art
deco examples, many friends thought they looked "too industrial". That
was in the mid 1970s, a few years later they became chic for ever
larger and more complex sound systems, and then friends were asking me
where they could get some for themselves. One friend worked at General
Electric and wanted one of their racks, but could not find one and
settled for a Motorola. She had the rack rails moved forward, and used
it for her sound system. A little later I found a couple VU meters that
would fit, and put them in the top. It fit nicely into her decorating
scheme, and got lots of complements.
