I believe we are closer to a paperless office than ever before. My company, since the pandemic, sent everyone home to work. We have no plans to get an office in the near future. So paper is worthless. With things like docusign, etc. we deal in almost zero paper. Maybe our accounts payable team gets a paper bill once in a while, but I suspect that is also nearly entirely PDFs through email.

When I started teaching in late 1986 with a newly-minted Computer Science degree the main rage in all the IT trade journals at the time was the "paperless office" coming soon. Still waiting for it, hi.
