In Audacity under Edit, Preferences, Devices there's a dialogue box for 
'Recording Device'

In the drop down there's an option with my setup to use "Speakers 
(loopback)" as an input. That's how I record from Spotify (whoops, 
didn't mean to give that away). Might depend on your sound card.

Saves messing with jump leads.
