I dimly remember that that problem indicates a bent type bar.  Only if all
or nearly all characters aren't striking properly would you want to make
wholesale adjustments.

I agree with others on the need to clean the type. I wonder about the
upper case B, though. It looks like the top part of it is not hitting the
ribbon hard enough or at all. There is some variation in the height of
each character (so we can get typewriter "fingerprints"). I don't know if
there is a platen adjustment that would allow each character to print the
whole character.
