Turns out it was not his wife, addressed in a couple of
subsequent messages.
I understand, from a BBC history program, that a couple of
centuries ago Salmon were so plentiful in Scotland that they were
considered poor people's food and the upper classes wouldn't
touch them. Oh, golly, my brain is now going to run wild trying
to remember the title and the name of the actress who narrated
them. This was radio you understand, BBC World Service before
they got cheap and took it off shortwave.
