The headphones are long-gone. I remember the connections had small hex 
nuts on them -- probably 4-40 thread or similar. The wires had loop (not 
spade) terminals on them.

I'm puzzled where I got WHITE tape in 1962. Don't recall any white 
Scotch #33 tape back then.
