[GreenKeys] 33asr question

John

Your examination was much closer than mine! I agree that the space between the two guide pins
is much closer to 11/16" than 1". I guess they used the same tape gate for both models.
Also, the place where the tape exits is easily 1" wide, but again, Teletype used the same parts as
much as possible. The limited view of the tape in the machine also appears to be 5 level as opposed
to 8 level. If there had been some punched tape sticking out the end of the gate, there would be no
questions at all.

Thanks for your sharp eyes!

73,

Ralph - W8ROI

I think you need to look at where the right tape guide pin is located, it's in the 5 level position. The hole to the right of it is an empty hold for 8 level.

The tape is what confused me as I counted 8 holes but the nameplate indicates it is a 32tm.

If it is a 8 level ASCII then it would work for me for use with a S-100 computer but I want to be sure before spending the $$$.

It appears to be a Model 35, 8 level machine for the ASCII code. I note that the four
'push button' devices near the tape system are missing. I think that these were just
pieces of plastic that pushed against some switching device underneath. I don't
know what would be required to restore those items. Just some form of 'pushing'
thing or more.

If you look at the third photo, taken right above the tape area, you can see that there are
eight places for punch holes, three on the left side, and five on the right side.

It might do the job you are seeking. I would seriously look into the "Make Offer"
area.

Good luck,

Hello Everyone,

I have been looking for a 33ASR and I ran across a Telex machine on the
e... website that looks close to what I am looking for however the model
on the nameplate is 32 TM by Teletype, am I correct in assuming this is
a 5 level machine for Telex only or could it possibly be a 8 level? The
tape looks like it is 8 bit however I am not positive. It apears to be
in very good physical condition and the inside looks clean, I have a
couple of pictures from the seller not on the auction site. It is
item#223944671893.

Thanks for any advice,

Doug
