Ken,
146.10/146.70 was formerly a standard AFSK RTTY repeater channel. Don't
know if there are any still active.
You could check with MetroCor <https://www.metrocor.net> they are the
repeater coordinators for the NYC metropolitan area. They could advise
you of any AFSK repeaters in the area and may know of any simplex
frequencies that are used for AFSK RTTY.
But if you are going to be using ARC-4 or -5, then you'll be running AM,
so the "experimental" frequencies below 145 are probably best.
A buddy & I had AN/ARC-4s in high school, but we could never get them
working. Only thing I ever heard on mine was WWV (10.0 Mhz IF)
