Most any designated simplex frequency could be used for AFSK on 2M. But, as you just did, ask around to
see if there is already an established RTTY frequency in the area.
If you and another RTTY person start using a rarely used Simplex Freq for RTTY, it might attract other users.
Some areas have a 'coordinating committee' which makes recommendations for various modes on some
bands. Again, some inquiries of other hams in the area might come up with something. If you monitor a
known designated simplex freq in your area and hear little or no activity, you might try it for AFSK.
Do pass along to the G/K group any activities you plan or carry out.
Thanks for the update.

Subject: [GreenKeys] 2 Meter AFSK
Hello all,
I live in the New York City area. I don't have any on-air capability just now. (Apartment living makes antenna solutions real difficult, but I 'm working on it)
I will be getting some WW2 VHF gear on the air (ARC-5 VHF, SCR-522, ARC-4)
So my question..
Are there any frequencies on 2 meters in the NYC area where RTTY users congregate?
The whole band is open to just about anything except for the first 100KHz, but of course it is all tightly organized for FM users.
Nonetheless, there must be a few spots where anything goes.
Many thanks.
