Simple as these commercials and jingles were, they were very well
written and did what they were intended to. Many were Hollywood quality
in every way, and are remembered decades later, even the ones promoting
stinking deadly poison. I doubt the ones of today will be regarded
with anything but scorn. I can't think of even one "earworm" jingle of
today, unlike the ones we constantly hummed, sang, and satirized
decades ago. Does anyone know of any commercials, in print or on
television, showing a teletype operator so harried or tired they
"needed" the product, or a scene with the equipment in the background?
