[GreenKeys] RTTY North American QSO Party - Some RBN statistics

An RBN is a radio beacon. Historical air navigation system of low frequency beacons used by aircraft (and some ships in coastal waters) for navigation. Roughly in the 200 to 400 kc band (that is not accurate, from memory). There is a declining number of beacons still in operation. Also known as NDB non directional beacons. One subset of "short" wave listening SWL is logging NDB's and has it's own community, clubs, and on-line databases.

There also is a system of beacons in the ham bands operated at licensed ham stations. Used to check propagation. Often transmit a series of signals of decreasing power.

A skimmer is a computer operated receiver that scans (usually) the CW portions of our ham bands and digitally processes the signals discovered. The results are posted on websites for your discover. I think one such web site is
RBN.net or some such.

I do not know of any skimmers that report teletype signals. If someone knows of any, please post information.
