Well, I learned about another strange printer today. Put it in the class
with the Teletype Inktronic (mandatory greenkeys content) as another idea
that never quite made it to the big time.
8000 lines per minute was certainly nothing to sneeze at!
And it was a powerful beast - 398 lbs and ran on 240v @ 20amps
>From a preliminary data sheet -
Fixed write heads produce a magnetic image on a rotating mylar write belt.
This magnetic image is then dry inked by means of a magnetic brushing
technique. The dry ink toner image is transferred directly to plain paper,
thermally fused for permanence, and that's it. The write belt will be
erased and the printing cycle continues.

Printing Technique: Electro-magnetic imaging utilizing single component dry
toner
to form dot matrix alpha/numeric characters.
Printing Speed: Up to 8,000 lines per minute with eight vertical lines per
inch spacing or 117 eight and one-half inch pages per minute; 6,000 lines
per minute with six lines per inch vertical density.
Paper: Standard, single-part, fanfold, 11 to 12.7 inches wide edge punched
paper; 7 to 14 inches between folds , 15 to 18lb. paper weight. ·
Resolution: 120 dots per inch horizontal, 120 vertical.
Page Imaging: Landscape or portrait printing by electronic character
rotation.
Character Dot Matrix: 9 X 11 (10 char/in horizontal) or 7x11 (15 char/in)
Character Set: 94 ASCII standard (upper and lower case) APL , ECMA fonts
available.
Vertical Spacing: 6 or 8 lines per inch.
