I also have had pretty good service from USPS. Right now they
have a notice up on their tracking page warning of delays due to
the CV. At least they are telling us. It seems to me (and I might
be wrong) that USPS contracts with UPS or Fedex for some
services. I am also not sure of the size and weight limits
through USPS, the packages Fedex is warning about might be too
large.
For smaller packages Grayhound offers a good service but they
do not pick up and deliver as do the other services. You have to
take the package to Grayhound and pick it up there.

FedEx and UPS - with both I’ve seen that if you don’t pay for faster service, they’ll hold up your package. The Kansas City area has about three distribution centers. Numerous times I’ve seen packages only craw 10 or 20 miles, over a two and one time even a three day period - from one center to the other for an overnights stay, because I didn’t choose the faster service. I mean, common - I’m three hours away from KC - just stick it on a truck! Oh well, usually with the postal service - and I agree that their 1-800 line can be iffy at times… but anywho, once it starts going in one direction, it doesn’t stop until it gets there. That’s what I like about USPS - no throttling of service. The for-profit guys - well, it’s their business, I guess ;o …..

I had some issues with them at Christmas this year getting things in a timely fashion and being outright lied to about the status of packages and reason(s) for non-delivery. There was an item in our local news a week or so back about how packages coming to Buffalo are being re-routed to the Henrietta (Rochester) facility where they linger for quite some time.

If the dimension includes a fraction, a fraction of 1/2 or greater will be rounded up to the next whole number; less than 1/2 will be rounded down to the next whole number.
