OK, I can see from bulletin 1167B the original hammer looked quite
different. Part number 156476. Has anyone ever seen this version? What
was it made of? Was it just all metal?

Then apparently there was a design change and a modification kit 176318.
That included 173980 hammer and 173979 head, hammer and some other
related parts.

So the hammer head in the pictures of the parts bulletin is rectangular
as are the ones I have. The photos Nick referenced

show a hammer head with a couple of chamfered or beveled edges.
The question, did they revise the design without changing the part
number? Does some other 28 gear use a similar part? The parts I have
have been through 3 hands, so can I trust the bin being marked as 173979?
