I'm also looking at the TU-170 manual. There are two fuses. The 125 mA
fuse is in the loop supply. There is another fuse that powers the main
power transformer and the motor. The parts list only shows the 125 mA
fuse. On page 9 of the manual, the assembly instructions say to install
the 3A fuse. So that must be the main fuse.
Somewhere, though I can't find it now, I think I saw that the TU-170 motor
socket was good for 2A.
My measurements on a model 15 motor are:
Sychronous Motor Measurements - The mechanical load on the motor varies
with machine adjustment (such as clutch tension) and lubrication. There is
more load on the motor when the machine is idling since the clutches are
slipping. Here are the measurements on my model 15. The "running" column
is with the space bar held down so the keyboard and printer clutches are
released.
Measurement Idle Running
Current 2.5 A 2.48 A
Power 79 W 70.5 W
Apparent Power 297 VA 293 VA
Power Factor 26 % 24 %
I've been running this with the TU-170 with no problem.
