[GreenKeys] M28 selector magnet wiring

Steve's recent mail prompts me to write about something ithat has puzzled
me at times -
The selector magnet assembly contains what look like two identical magnet
coils.
When wired in parallel, they are connected as follows
loopA to coil1/terminal1 + coil2/terminal 2
loopB to coil1/terminal2 + coil2/terminal1

When in series:
loopA to terminal1/coil1/terminal2 to terminal2/coil2/terminal1 to loopB

That is, the magnetic fields are in series through the armature, rather
than in parallel attracting the armature.
N1-S1-armature-N2-S2 (with tops of the magnets linked S2-N1 by the core)
Is my thinking correct?

The attached Teletype schematic shows the terminals series connected as I
said - note that the windings are in reverse direction for the two coils. I
have been confused, because some drawings do show them wound in the same
direction.
Cheers,
Nick K4NYW a
