[GreenKeys] How did you acquire your Teletypes?

Hi

….. well …. since you asked :)

Back when I was in school, I found a “can’t pass this up” deal on a model 15 at a store
12 hours from home. It was cheap enough that there was no way to *not* buy it.

At the time (this was the 1970’s) the airlines had “unlimited” baggage on domestic flights.
I pulled up to the airport with my model 15 and my one bag. I checked it all in. They
(rightly) advised me that transport of the unpackaged 15 was on a “best effort” basis.

When I got to the other end, I picked up my luggage and they paged me over to the
freight door. There was the model 15. It was intact and it ran quite well for a number of years.

So far Ebay has been my only source for both material and teletypes themselves. It's been a crapshoot to say the least. I've gotten a nice Model 32 Teletype that I've managed to repair, but a Model 33 101c Teletype that I got came in the worst packing job I have ever seen, it's repairable, but cosmetically it's beyond repair (I spent about 4 hours glueing and melting plastic pieces back together).
