Cabinets like that were used for several Teletype large systems. They are
relay rack size, but a little wider than the usual relay rack cabinets.
SECO - a weather data collection system for the CAA, where the cabinet
held a couple of SOTUS sequential selectors and other stuff used in
collecting the hourly weather observations from airports.
AN/FGC-5 - four channel time division multiplex using vacuum and gas
electron tubes. One cabinet for the transmitting terminal and another
for the receiving terminal. Later transistorized multiplex systems,
AN/UGC-3 and AN/UGA-1 used standard military rack cabinets.
ADIS - weather data collection and dissemination system that replaced
SECO. A switching center used a dozen or more of these cabinets. Some
held two reperforator-transmitter stands in the bottom and shoebox size
electronics modules in the top.
BDIS - another communication switching system for FAA that handled
flight plan and administrative messages.
