That’s a good suggestion. Also check out www.busfreighter.com. They use the Greyhound network but offer a sizable discount when you purchase through them. The only caveat is pickup/dropoff depots are a subset of the standard GH stations, and some are ship-only while others are receive-only (they have an interactive map to investigate). I had a heavy package easily the size of a 35 shipped to me half way across the US for under $100. Ship time was very fast and handling was little. 

While I haven’t used the Fastenal program, I’m told they offer shipping to/from any of their retail stores in the US. Simply strap your load to a pallet, drop it off at a local store and they handle the rest. Might be worth investigating.
