LOL ... I have enough ribbons available to last them quite a 
few years even if they were actually typing out the news on

But it's not likely radio listeners can see whether the tty is 
printing on paper or not, so the "brand manager" explanation 
is pure BS ...  

"They stopped making the ribbons for the trusty teletype in 
1986, and our supply finally ran out - so alas, Old Reliable is 
out of commission until further notice," Alex Silverman, 
KYW´s brand manager, said in a statement.
