Greetings Henk and the List!

Often you can find readers from scrapped or modified CNC machines; I 
have a couple that came with reels....

Just troll eBay until you find a cheap one.

As an extra, I have modified the supply and take-up systems to work with 
my high-speed punches and readers, they're simple AC torquemotors and 
many have control arms. The link below shows the two torquemotors with a 
small control board, you put 24VAC into the board and the motors operate 
according to the control arm switches.
