Yeah, I assume with the ascendancy of ASCII there was no longer any
enthusiasm or support for the weather symbols.

One thing you have to note is that in the weather symbol type arrangement
upper case blank is a printing character, the minus sign.  So in addition
to putting a weather type box into your 28 you have to do a bit of
fiddling with the stunt box.
