[GreenKeys] ASR-33 Chattering...and the beginning of an adventure!

Greetings Greenkeys and John!

One other bit of Model 33 lore:

CHECK YOUR PRINT HAMMER!

Please check the rubber "puck" that actually drives the print cylinder
into the paper. Be quite sure it is present, and in good shape. It's
probably best to replace it as a matter of PM.

If the rubber hammer fails it will destroy your print cylinder before
you know what's happening. Mine flew off in the middle of a listing - I
was out of the room but heard the sound of the machine change - by the
time I shut it off it was too late. I was very lucky to have been able
to source another one (you know who you are and thanks so much!) but
they're getting very rare and hard to find.

There's a lot of info and fixes for the print-hammer 'problem' - in my
case I used one of those adhesive square rubber feet - others have put
vinyl tubing over the print hammer lever - etc etc.

Just check that out while you're working on the machine and BEFORE you
try to print anything.
