[GreenKeys] Red lenses on model 28

The red lenses for indicator lamps are often missing on M28 cabinets. I
have a bunch of used red lenses but the "speed nut" retaining clip is
slightly too loose to hold them (even with new clips from Paul).
Is there a trick for making these things work? (Other than epoxy.)
Or did these lenses just get ground down too much when the clips were
removed?
Is there a trick to removing the clips without damage?
