And having written that I now disagree with the author!  What the printer
with a mechanical selector cannot do is cope with missing stop pulses and
false start pulses, which are fairly common in radio work.  I haven't
studied the TT-63 to see how it copes with those situations, but in
principle an electronic receiver can do so.
