[GreenKeys] [External] Tip on loops

In Europe even CFLs are almost dead and likely to be banned soon. I am in
Spain at the moments and our local shop, which is run my a person of I think
Chinese heritage, at least its called "Bazaar Chino" has only a few CFLs but
lots of LEDs. A lot of the cheap LEDs use capacitive droppers and generate
very little interference. In the UK the RSGB has been trying to get bad ones
removed from sale. However, this is hit and miss some are reportedly really
bad. In addition, they run much cooler which may of may not be an advantage.
I haven't tested them all recently but for me the main issue when trying to
operate HF is noise from the many nearby FTTC/VDSL internet installations,
many of which have what I think is un-twisted drop wires to the house and as
a result radiate across virtually the whole of HF. Background noise is about
S7-S8 most of the time on my G5RV. I hoped a vertical would be better as I
assumed the VDSL would be horizontally polarized, but it doesn't seem to
help. I note the RGSB says my levels may be "normal" in built up areas...

As for running cooler, until recently our kitchen had 10xGU10 spots.
Originally these were Halogen spotlights and when I swapped them for LED the
power use went down, but my wife complained it was cold and turned the
heating up.....
