Not a 26 savant either!

If you use the hand crank to move the platen does it seem to snap in place OK?

There are 4 pressure rollers, 2 front, 2 backside under the platen. Do they seem to be in good condition? There are also 4 pressure springs in between the pressure rollers, are they all there?

I would assume there's a lever somewhere to release the pressure rollers when you want feed in a new roll of paper. Does that seem to work OK?

How about can you pull on the paper, does it move easily.

You may have tried all of this already, but I thought I'd chime in and maybe it will trigger some other ideas by others.
