Separate from Paul's question.

Two things:
1. In Paul's case, " results in 14 spaces or so.
Is that actually 14 spaces or does the 28 have a "If I get a
tab request, I index the carriage x inches?"
Does the sending station know to wait for all 14 spaces
before sending the next character?

2. Can the stunt box decode sequential characters. I.e., if
I hear this, and then this, do this?
